2024 JuST Conference Program Advisor Application

You are invited to join Shared Hope staff and other field experts as a 2024 Juvenile Sex Trafficking (JuST) Conference Workshop Advisor. Attendees at the JuST Conference expect and deserve cutting edge sessions that will improve overall response to the many aspects of sex trafficking. Shared Hope intends to maintain the JuST Conferences’ reputation as the premier juvenile sex trafficking conference in the nation; to that end, we have selected a small number of individuals to assist us in evaluating submissions for workshop presentations. Because of your reputation as a field expert, we believe you would be an excellent professional to assist us in this effort.

Advisors will each review a selection of workshop applications, helping SHI staff choose presentations for the final 2024 JuST Conference program. The 2024 workshop advisors will be comprised of members with expertise in service provision, juvenile & criminal justice, survivor empowerment and opportunities and emerging trends in DMST and special interest topics.

Please carefully review the information, responsibilities, and timeline outlined below. After reviewing, if you would like to be considered for an Advisor role, please complete the advisor application by April 12. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Deadline to submit program advisor application: April 12, 2024.

Responsibilities

Shared Hope staff will complete a preliminary review and eliminate the first round of workshops. Each Advisor will receive a unique selection of workshop applications to review by May 10.

Advisors will have two (2) weeks to review the content and presenters based on a few guidelines:

  1. Is the content relevant and interesting to today’s JuST Conference audience?
  2. Is this an advanced level course?
  3. Do the presenter’s qualifications merit the content’s advanced level?
  4. Do you know this presenter and have you seen them present this content before?
  5. Do you have any concerns about the content/presenter? Why?

Your review should not exceed five (5) hours for all your assigned submissions. By May 24, advisors are asked to send recommendations indicating workshops that should be considered and workshops that should be eliminated.

Most communications are by email, however we may schedule conference calls with individual advisors on a case-by-case basis.

Final workshop selections will be decided by the Shared Hope team no later than Friday, June 9. We will be selecting between 60-65 workshops for the 2024 JuST Conference program.

Once the Shared Hope team has received the Advisors’ recommendations, we will discuss our selections, weigh our options and work with advisors to review and check on presenter qualifications. It is our goal to select vetted presenters with qualified experience in providing trauma-informed training on DMST focused content.

Advisor Guidelines & Benefits

The 2024 JuST Conference Workshop Advisor role is a temporary appointment for the current year’s program. New advisors will be selected each year for future conferences.

Due to the significant influence and sensitive nature of content review and the selection/elimination process, advisors will only receive presenter materials that can be easily accessed via public records. It is also imperative that advisors sign/return our confidentiality agreement.

Advisors must understand and agree that the Shared Hope staff will be making all the final decisions on the program. These decisions will be made with strong consideration of the advisor’s comments and suggestions.

We do not expect advisors to attend the conference, but we welcome their attendance and participation. For their time and expertise, advisors will receive complimentary JuST 2024 registration. This year’s JuST Conference takes place in Phoenix, AZ, October 22-24, at the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa. More information can be found here https://www.justconference.org/just-conference-2024/.

Advisors will be acknowledged as JuST 2024 Conference Workshop Advisors in the conference program. In the event your responsibilities are not completed for any reason, then you will not be acknowledged as an advisor in the program.

Compensation will not be provided for hours dedicated to committee review/discussion, unless in accordance with our Survivor Compensation Policy, which will be discussed individually.

If you or your organization/agency submitted a presenter application your workshop is not guaranteed to be selected but will still be considered. It will be reviewed by other advisors for feedback.

We hope you consider this a valuable opportunity! We would be honored for you to share your time and expertise with us.

Should you choose to be considered as a workshop advisor, please complete the advisor application by April 12. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at advisors@sharedhope.org.

We thank you for your consideration and look forward to hearing from you!
